Architecture
7 roles. Aligned with the UK GDaD PCF Architecture family.
Enterprise architect
Enterprise architects give the organization a joined-up view of its services, information, applications, and technology, and use it to turn health and care strategy into a coherent plan for change. They set architecture principles, standards, and roadmaps, guide investment decisions, and make sure digital change supports safe, joined-up care for patients across organizations.

- Band 8c Lead enterprise architect

Solution architect
Solution architects design how a new or changed service will work end to end, from user needs and clinical workflows to applications, data, integrations, hosting, and security. They make sure each solution fits the organization's architecture, meets its safety, privacy, and interoperability needs, and can be built, run, and supported affordably.

- Band 8b Senior solution architect
- Band 8c Lead solution architect
- Band 8d Principal solution architect
Technical architect
Technical architects design the technical structure of the organization's digital health services: the components, platforms, hosting, integration patterns, and non-functional qualities such as security, performance, and resilience. They work closely with developers and DevOps engineers, give technical leadership to delivery teams, and make sure services are built to last and safe to run.

- Band 7 Technical architect
- Band 8a Senior technical architect
- Band 8b Lead technical architect

Data architect
Data architects design how the organization structures, stores, moves, and governs its health and care data, so that it can be used safely for direct care, service planning, and research. They design data models, data platforms, and data flows, set data standards, and make sure clinical meaning, quality, and confidentiality are kept from end to end.
- Band 8a Data architect
- Band 8b Senior data architect
- Band 8c Chief data architect
Security architect
Security architects design the security of the organization's digital health services, so that patient information stays confidential, accurate, and available when care needs it. They set security patterns and controls, assess the security risk of new designs and suppliers, and help teams make risk-based decisions that keep services both safe and usable for clinicians and patients.
- Band 8a Security architect
- Band 8b Lead security architect
- Band 8c Principal security architect
Network architect
Network architects design the local, wide area, wireless, and cloud networks that connect the organization's sites, staff, clinical systems, and medical devices. They make sure networks are fast, resilient, and secure enough for care that never stops, and they plan how networks change as services move to the cloud and connect with partner organizations.
- Band 6 Associate network architect
- Band 7 Network architect
- Band 8a Lead network architect
Business architect
Business architects build a clear, joined-up view of how the organization delivers health and care: its capabilities, services, care pathways, processes, and information. They use that view to show where change is needed, to connect strategy with programs, and to make sure digital change improves care for patients and the working lives of clinicians and care staff.
