Network architect
Network architects design the local, wide area, wireless, and cloud networks that connect the organization's sites, staff, clinical systems, and medical devices. They make sure networks are fast, resilient, and secure enough for care that never stops, and they plan how networks change as services move to the cloud and connect with partner organizations.

In a digital health care organization
- Clinical systems, telephony, and medical devices depend on the network, so an outage can stop care; designs need resilience and tested failover.
- Networks often carry connected medical devices that are hard to patch, so architects design segmentation and monitoring to protect them.
- Staff work across hospitals, clinics, community settings, and patients' homes, so designs must support secure mobile and remote access.
- Networks connect to shared health and care networks and partner organizations, which set their own connection and security requirements.
- Changes to clinical areas need careful planning around patient care, for example scheduling work outside busy periods.
UK GDaD PCF role description
