In a digital health care organization
- Programs often change how care is delivered across several organizations, so program delivery managers coordinate clinical, operational, and digital leaders who have different priorities and governance.
- Clinical risk must be managed across the whole program, not only within each team, so they work with clinical safety officers to keep a program-level view of hazards and safety cases.
- Programs frequently involve large contracts with suppliers of clinical systems, so commercial and contract management is a major part of the role.
- Benefits in care, such as shorter waits, safer prescribing, or staff time released, must be defined, owned by the service, and tracked long after the program closes.
