In a digital health care organization
- Health care organizations carry clinical, information, cyber, financial, and reputational risks, so the risk framework must bring these together for the board.
- Boards must show they are assured about patient safety and quality, so governance staff link clinical safety and quality reporting into committees.
- Regulators and auditors expect clear records of decisions, risks, declarations of interest, and policies.
- Serious incidents and service failures need fast, well-documented escalation through the governance structure.

They coordinate risk management aspects across the different functions of an organisation and are responsible for technical activities such as risk assessment, risk mapping and insurance purchase.
